kidssrciconSummer Reading Challenge for Kids 2017

What is Summer Reading How long does it last? The Summer Reading Challenge is a program designed to keep your brain sharp all summer long. Simply record how much time you read this summer to earn awesome prizes! The program starts on June 17 and ends August 17.

Who can participate in the program? Any child from birth through age 12 is eligible to participate. .It doesn’t matter where you live or where you go to school. 13 or older?  Ask about our teen and adult reading challenges.

How much do I have to read? You can read as much or as little as you like.   After you fill in 10 circles/200 minutes, bring your log to the Children’s Room at Albion District Library and spin our new Prize Wheel. Read 600 minutes this summer and earn a free book!

What if my child prefers to be read to or can’t read on their own yet? Being read to or listening to audiobooks also counts! Just track the amount of time you spend listening.  For reference, it takes about 20 minutes to read three picture books aloud.

How do I earn awesome prizes? You earn prizes by completing your reading log.  Every time you read for 20 minutes, fill in a circle on the reading log. After you fill in 10 circles or 200 minutes, return the log to spin the prize wheel. If you read 600 minutes, you get to pick out a free book!

What books can I read? You can read anything you want! In addition to books, you can also read comic books or listen to audiobooks. You can even read on your phone or a tablet!

Program starts June 17, 2017 and ends August 17, 2017
