ADL Receives MACC Grant for Facility Improvement

Posted on Feb 24, 2025

We’re excited to announce that Albion District Library has received a $15,000 grant from the Michigan Arts & Culture Council (MACC)! The grant will be used to fund preliminary engineering plans needed to make our 1919 Carnegie building more accessible to all patrons. The stairs accessing the original building (Lower Level and Ellen Pantaleo Children’s Room), are aging and not easily accessible by those with physical disabilities, mobility challenges, or their caregivers.

In recognition of the diverse needs of patrons and visitors, ADL has contracted with Wightman, a Michigan-based architectural and engineering firm with almost 80 years experience working with municipalities like ADL. They, and the Michigan Arts & Culture Council (MACC), share our goal of developing original, effective, and practical solutions to update our beautiful centennial building, while retaining as many of its historical value as possible. Together, we will ensure that all of our community can enjoy the civic, economic, and educational benefits of their public library.

Many thanks to the Michigan Arts & Culture Council (MACC) for their support of our project and our mission to serve our community!
