Board of Trustees Letter to Albion

Posted on Dec 15, 2014

It is with great pleasure that the Albion District Library Board of Trustees announces the appointment of Cynthia (Cindy) Stanczak as Director beginning January 1, 2015.  Over the past 7 months she has worked closely with Ann Perrigo, our Interim Director, and others in the library science community and has demonstrated skills that will lead us into a new era of service to our community.  We look forward to her ongoing guidance and leadership.

We want to express our gratitude to Ann Perrigo who stepped out of retirement from Allegan District Library to guide us during challenging times.  She is ending a successful career as Library Director – beginning with the Albion Public Library and ending with the Albion District Library.  She provided invaluable leadership and mentoring to Cindy, the staff and the Board during this transition.

We offer one final update: our former director plead guilty to embezzling library funds and paid full restitution to the library. The withdrawal of her appeal on denial of unemployment benefits closes the final chapter before the New Year.

The Board will be welcoming new members in January and we are grateful for the many people willing to step up to work with this vital community resource. We continue to need people to work in the areas of policy, finance, personnel, and strategic planning. If you are interested and able to provide leadership as a committee member, please let us know.
From the members of the Albion District Library Board – Happy Holidays!

Paula Pheley, President
on behalf of the Albion District Library Board of Trustees
