The Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest. And the National Endowment for the Arts has chosen our community as one of 75 communities nationwide to participate in this amazing program. Visit www.NEAbigread.org for more information.

That means that October 2015 will be filled with programming aimed at bringing our community together around Ursula Le Guin’s coming-of-age fantasy novel A Wizard of Earthsea, one of the earliest fantasy novels to feature a protagonist of color. That programming will include something for everyone.

Albion’s Big Read program would not be possible without the generous support and collaboration of the following institutions: Albion College, the Albion Public Schools, the Albion District Library, the Albion-Homer United Way, the Linda Kochinski Fund, the Youth Advisory Council of the Albion Community Foundation, the Albion Rotary Club, the Bohm Theater, Kids ’N Stuff Children’s Museum, the Chamber of Commerce, and, of course, the National Endowment for the Arts.

Stay tuned for more news and excitement. In the meantime, spread the word that the Big Read is on its way to the forks of the Kalamazoo River!
