Albion District Library is committed to providing high-quality services that are safe for both staff and patrons. On June 25, 2020, the ADL Board of Trustees adopted a COVID-19 Preparedness & Response Plan and a Phased Reopening Policy that will allow us to reopen in a way that cautious, flexible, and, above all else, safe for both patrons and our staff. These documents have been amended to comply with current MDHHS orders and MIOSHA emergency rules.
We are moving gradually through the phases of our reopening plan, starting with curbside and walk-up service and ultimately ending with full on-site services. Dates for moving to each phase are fluid, based on current health conditions and guidelines from state and local health departments. Here are our services and procedures for our current Phase 5. Details for next phases will be shared as we transition into them. View our COVID-19 Preparedness & Response Plan.
As part of this reopening plan, we have made the following changes:
- Enhanced Cleaning: All high-touch areas and equipment are being disinfected regularly, in addition to regular janitorial attention. This includes handles, rails, keyboards, mice, office equipment, counter and table tops, and phones.
- Returns: Patrons are asked to return all items in the drop boxes behind the library and in our front lobby, including MeLCat interlibrary loan items. All returns are being quarantined overnight before they are shelved or loaned again.
- Protective Equipment: We have an appropriate supply of hand sanitizer, disinfectant, cleaning wipes, masks, face shields, gloves, and paper products for both staff and patrons. Our main service desks are equipped with sneeze guards, and staff and patrons over the age of 2 are required to wear face masks that cover both the nose and mouth while using the library and library services.
- Social Distancing: We are abiding by the recommendation of 6 feet social distance between households, and have removed some furniture and computers to allow this necessary social distance between patron households.
- Notice to Patrons: We have posted flyers on our policy, including masks and social distancing, on our doors, our website, and our social media platforms.
