Interlibrary loan allows patrons in our service area to borrow materials from other libraries. If you are an Albion College student, please request interloans through Albion College. Jackson County residents should interloan through Jackson District Library. Patrons may place their own requests from MelCat online or may come to the library and have the staff place the request. For more information on how to place interloan requests, call 629 3993
The Library shares an automated card catalog with Albion College. Community
users over 18 who live in the Library’s service area may check out materials at
the College Library. To apply for a card at the college, take your public
library card to the college library during business hours.
Public Access television (channel 10) is administered by the Library to provide
community information. Non profits may submit events from the Library’s website.
Meeting Rooms are available during Library open hours. There are fees for
private meetings. For more information or to schedule a meeting call 629.3993.

The Forks Initiative
The Library administers this community network on behalf of the greater Albion
community. The mission of the Forks is to provide local access to electronic
information that meets the diverse educational, cultural and informational needs
of our community equitably and cost effectively. For more information about Forks services visit
the website at www.forks.org.
The original Carnegie building, now the Children’s Room was constructed in
1919. An addition built in 1976 provided more space as well as handicapped access at the main entrance on Ash Street. Elevator service is available at all
levels.
Renovated in 2002, The Children’s Room exemplifies the Arts and Crafts style of
the original building.
Some street parking is available on Ash Street and Superior Street, with
additional parking in the public lot on the corner of Ash Street and Ionia.
A book drop is located on the South side of the building
Anyone may use the Library’s collections in the building. However, a library
card is required to check out materials. You may apply for a library card if you
live or own a business or property in the Library’s service, which includes the
City of Albion, Albion Township, and the Albion School District. These areas support the Library with tax monies.
Jackson County residents may apply for library cards under an agreement with the
Jackson District Library.
If you live outside the Library’s service area, you may purchase a card for a
yearly fee.
Cardholders are responsible for all materials they check out, and for paying
fines and/or replacement costs.

In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, the library will provide necessary reasonable aids and services to individuals with disabilities at any library-sponsored program. To request auxiliary aids, call or write the library at least two weeks before the event for which they are required.
The library is governed by a seven-person Board of Trustees, appointed by Albion Township, Albion School District and the City of Albion. The Library Board is responsible for establishing library policies. Library Board meetings, held monthly, are open to the public.
The Friends of the Library is a volunteer organization that promotes library
use, raises money, and sponsors programs.
Membership forms are available in the Library. The Friends’ major fundraiser is
an annual “Non-Ball.” They also host a booksale every other year during the
Festival of the Forks.
