Albion Technology Group

TechnologyLearningThe Albion Technology Group up , formerly known as the Forks Initiative, is a community network  in Albion, Michigan, administered by the Albion District Library and serving the City of Albion, Albion Township, and Sheridan Township. Everyone is welcome to become involved in this group.

The Mission of the Albion Technology Group is to provide local access to electronic information that meets the diverse educational, cultural, and informational needs of our community equitably and cost effectively. The Albion Technology Group focuses on access, training, and the digital divide. These areas are addressed through such services as computer classes and monthly meetings.

Starting in 1995, the Forks began by providing affordable internet access before commercial providers came to the greater Albion area.

When Albion College and the greater Albion community received a HUD (Housing and Urban Development) grant and a grant from the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, the Forks expanded in order to provide a structure for accomplishing community projects like dial-up access to the Internet, Community Smart Centers, etc.

The monthly Albion Technology Group networking meetings (second Monday of each month, 11:30 to 1:00 pm at the Albion District Library) are open to the public.
