Adult Summer Reading Challenge 2018

Directions: Log the time you spend reading this summer. Any time you read for three hours, fill out a timed reading ticket. Bring completed tickets back to the library and enter them in the prize drawing  container(s) of your choosing. Want to keep reading? Grab another set of tickets and keep reading. We will contact you by phone if you win a drawing. You can read anything you like– books, magazines, newspapers, audiobooks, ebooks, and graphic novels all count! (Please, no children’s books.) For adults 18+.  

Program starts June 18, 2018 and ends August 18, 2018

Tai Chi

Wednesdays, June 6-July 25.

Instructor Pat Wilson teaches the basics of this ancient Chinese art in the Naomi Lane Room.  Open to all experience levels.

Henna Club

Saturdays, June 16, July 14, & August 16 from 2:00-4:00 PM

The ADL Henna Club meets at 2:00 p.m. in the Elsie Munro Room (upstairs). Join us for fun, refreshments, and to learn the basics of henna designs (mehndi) from around the world. Not artistically inclined?  That’s okay! We need both “artists” and “canvases.” Open to teens and adults of all experience levels.

Bring your own project or start one with us. We have yarn, patterns, hooks, needles, and looms! Open to teens (ages 13-19) and adults.

Coloring & Conversations

Tuesday, June 27 from 3:00-4:00 PM, Forks Senior Center

In June, we have aprons that you can color and use for those Fourth of July barbecues or our cheese-making classes (Jun 30 & Jul 7). There is a limited number, so first-come, first-served. Special cloth-coloring supplies will be provided. Off site: Forks Senior Center, 101 Albion St., Albion.  No Registration Required.

Learn to Make Homemade Fresh Cheese!

Saturday, June 30 OR Saturday, July 7 from 2:00-4:00 PM

Learn how to make delicious fresh cheeses, including mozzarella, cottage cheese, queso fresco, and Indian paneer! Samples, recipes, and handout. Demonstration. Open to teens (16+) and adults. Registration required.

Collaborative Corner

Thursday, July 19 from 6:30-7:30 PM

Socialize, garden with your neighbors while you learn to properly prune, weed, mulch, and water the plants of the Collaborative Garden on Michigan Ave in Albion. Enjoy light refreshments while you listen to a reading from two of Rachel Carson’s books. Chance to win a copy! Bring your own garden gloves and you are welcome to bring your garden tools.
