ADL Strategic Plan for 2010-2013

At its Annual Retreat in August 2010, the Albion District Library Board of Directors developed and approved the following Strategic Plan to guide operation of the Library for three years, 2010-2013.

The ADL Strategic Plan for 2010-2013:

1) Secure funding at or above the average for Class IV libraries in the State of Michigan:

  • Pursue opportunities to expand the District’s service area
  • Develop annual funding to support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program

2) Promote educational and community partnerships:

  • Develop and/or sustain partnerships with Albion Public Schools, Albion College, and Kellogg Community College in order to offer unique ADL services
  • Explore and develop new partnerships with community organizations and businesses that are needed to ensure ongoing programming

3) Empower the greater Albion community to use library resources for lifelong learning:

  • Spearhead the initiative to bring GED services to Albion
  • Educate the community as to opportunities available through on-line resources
  • Explore and implement ways to offer outreach services to seniors
  • Investigate new technologies relevant to the community

4) Increase participation of children, tweens, and teens in programs by 10%:

  • Work with other community organizations that promote life-long learning
  • Investigate and facilitate ways to bring the library to students
  • Sustain and expand teen programs

5) Investigate ways to modify the facility to broaden services

  • Conduct a community needs assessment by December 2011
  • Develop a facilities expansion program by December 2012
